Time Flies.....

Been busy and time has really flown by since I last posted! Jeff's mom and grandma came to visit for several days which was nice. They usually don't stay long whenever they come but this time they stuck around a little while. Nana (Jeff's mom) has been a Kindegarten teacher for 40 years and she sat down and did Alison's school with her while she was here. Her specialty is handwriting and she really helped Alison with her handwriting while she was here.

I am trying to quit smoking or at least cut way down and I'm doing pretty good. Last week, I got sick with some kind of stomach bug for a couple of days so that wasted a couple of days for me. I didn't eat ANYTHING for 2 days straight. I decided to use the opportunity to try to quit since i wasn't able to smoke. I haven't been spending much time on the computer because I'm so used to smoking while I'm on it.

Michael got his cast off yesterday!! We were really surprised they took it off, actually. Michael was not happy with it, believe it or not. He said he would have like to have it for another week. They said he still needs to be careful for about a month. Michael was pretty down yesterday because he's is so limited on what he can do. (He is grounded from computer right now) He really likes to roller blade and that is out. He's been doing a lot of drawing. He did a little plastic canvas and played with his electronic circuit kit.

Oh, I don't know if I mentioned about Jeff having wreck or not. Several weeks ago, when his mom was visiting. He was on his way back with the RV hooked up from picking it up from the dealer. That was when we were having all of that rain and he was on a back road with just two lanes. Anyway, someone in front of the car in front of him decided they wanted to turn at the last minute and when jeff hit the breaks, they locked up because of the slick road and just started sliding. He was trying to avoid hitting the car in front of him dead on. He clipped the cars right rear side and tore him up pretty good with his big F250 with ranch hand bumper. Jeff ended up going through a shallow ditch and about 100 yards off the road. Very little damage to the truck and none to the RV. Here's a few pictures....

Well, Im just thankful that Jeff and the RV are both okay!

Here I am....

I got my lap top back from HP yesterday! I have a brand new hard drive so I am now trying to reload all of my programs and get it set up and connected the way I like it again. I'm not completely up to speed yet but hopefully things will be back to normal soon!

I did manage to get what pictures I had on my camera loaded to my computer. I have a lot of crochet pictures I need to record. Here is a picture of a skirt and shrug I made for my daughter but it ended up too small for her. I gave it to her best friend, Hannah, who is modeling it in the picture here:

Michael's arm

Michael got his half cast and his pins taken out last Monday. It was extremely painful getting the pins out. The doctor had led us to believe that they were going to "slip the pins out" We realized it was going to be bad when he started explaining why they don't use pain medicine and then asked the nurse to shut the door. Michael writhed in pain while the doctor pulled and wiggled the pins free. He didn't scream as they expected and the doctor told him he was a "tough kid" He still doesn't use his arm much even with the half cast on. His next appointment is next Monday. I am doubting he will be ready to get the cast off though.

We went camping in Bastrop North Shore Park over the past weekend. We haven't taken the RV out since July. The trip was too short but we had a good time and the weather was nice and cool.

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.
In his opening address he said,
"We can't keep Christians from going to church."
"We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth."
"We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their Savior."
"Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken."
"So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, BUT steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.."
"This is what I want you to do," said the devil:
"Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!"
"How shall we do this?" his demons shouted.
"Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds," he answered.
"Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow."
"Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles."
"Keep them from spending time with their children."
"As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!"
"Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice."
"Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive." To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-biblical music constantly."
"This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ."
"Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers."
"Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day."
"Invade their driving moments with billboards."
"Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products, services and false hopes.." "Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. "
"Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night."
"Give them headaches too! "
"If they don't give their husbands the love they need, they will begin to look elsewhere."
"That will fragment their families quickly!"
"Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas."
"Give them an Easter bunny so they won't talk about his resurrection and power over sin and death."
"Even in their recreation, let them be excessive."
"Have them return from their recreation exhausted."
"Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God's creation. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead."
"Keep them busy, busy, busy!"
"And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences."
"Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus."
"Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause."
"It will work!"
"It will work!"
It was quite a plan!
The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get busier and more rushed, going here and there.
Having little time for their God or their families.
Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives.
I guess the question is, has the devil been successful in his schemes?
You be the judge!!!!!
Does "BUSY" mean: B-eing U-nder S-atan's Y-oke?

Off to the doctor again...

We're taking Michael in for an X-Ray on his arm this afternoon. The shooting pains in his arm have not gotten any better. And today, he told me he can hear something and feel something at the break. I put my ear up to it when he moves his finger and i can actually hear it too! This is all new to me so I'm not sure what kind of pain and stuff is normal. We are going to have it looked at this afternoon just to be sure nothing is out of place.

Well, I guess this is not going to be much of a "crochet" blog until I get my computer back. I'm not loading pictures or anything like that on this computer I am using right now.

Michael breaks his arm....

Well, we've had our first (and hopefully our last!) broken bone in our family! Alison and I went on a mommy/daughter day this last Saturday. We had lunch at Denny's (Alison loves) and then went to Sonic for a slush. We had to make a trip to Target for michael...he was really wanting his rollerblades that he got for his birthday exchanged because the wheels were already falling apart on them in only a months time. So we ran to trade those in for a new pair and ran them back home to him before we headed to WalMart to get Alison a "fish" I had promised her. I forgot my phone in the truck...well, when I got back out to the truck I saw that Jeff had tried to call me 22 times! I called him back to find out that he was at the emergency room with Michael because Michael had landed wrong when he was roller blading and broken him arm! We headed to the hospital where I found my son in great pain and very groggy from morphine. If you know my son, Michael, it takes a LOT of pain to phase him. He can get scrapes and bruises that would make any kid cry and it doesn't even phase him. He amazes even other kids with his "cat like" ability to jump from very high places and he has an amazing ability to save himself from falls. Alison was astonished that *Michael* had broken his arm...she said that just didn't sound right! LOL The hospital put a temporary splint on his arm and said he needed to be put under anesthesia so he was going to be checked into a room and go under the next morning. He went into surgery the next morning where they put two pins that will be removed after 3 weeks. He had some pretty bad pain for about 2 days after he got home from the hospital. He went back to the doctor this past Thursday and they put his glow in the dark cast on. Poor Michael is such an active kids with his hands so this is about to drive him nuts not having use of both of his hands. He has lost feelingin two of his fingers and the doctor seems to think it is from a bruised nerve and it will come back. The doctor almost said the bone almost came out of his arm...boy, i'm glad it didn't! I don't know how i would have handled the site of that!! Over the past couple of days, he's started having shooting pains in his hand sometimes...not sure what that means. He goes back to the doctor on Oct 16 to get this cast taken off, the pins will be removed, and he will get a 1/2 cast, which will be below his elbow. He is really looking forward to that because he will have free motion of his arm again!

So anyhow...that's what's going on with us right now....and my computer is STILL out of commission so my joyousness of having it back was short lived! :(
