Finally taking my final picture of this monstrous afghan! It is huge! The picture is taken on a queen size bed. It was so fun making this! Pattern was perfectly written. I will be making more of his patterns for sure. This will be a gift for my son.

Well, I finished my big project of Panes of Change afghan! Wow, it's HUGE!! Unfortunately, I am at my long weekend shift at work and I forgot to bring my camera so I couldn't take a picture but I will take one later this week when I get home. Just wanted to mark the occassion. This blanket was a LOT of fun to make!

Panes of Change

This is a pattern by Frank O'Randle called "Panes of Change" and boy what a project it has been! I'm making this one for my son. LOTS of ends to weave in because there are sooo many color changes. I'm limited to where I can work on it because sometimes I have a spider webs of yarn skeins all attached at the same time. It's taken me awhile to get this far because I usually just bring it to my long shifts at work when I know I'll have a lot of time to work on it. I haven't really worked on this one at home at all.
It's huge...this picture was taken on a queen size bed and I'm still not finished with it. I'm very close though.

Abundance!

Peaches, plums, apricots, zucchini, yellow squash. This is actually a small batch here. The apricots are already gone....they all ripened at once and we lost the ones we couldn't eat. Now the peach trees are brimming. I am about to make an attempt to do my first ever batch of canning this weekend! Something I've always wanted to learn...well, I'm going to give it a try this weekend! I can't bear to lose all these peaches! I'm going to freeze some and I'm going to make preserves. I hope the plums give me time to get this down before they all come in. The plums are ripening slower. Our yellow squash plant is producing a lot and the zucchini is from Mr. Summer's garden. We have lots of tomatoes but ours are not ripening yet. I went and bought myself all the supplies for the canning this week and I'm gonna give it a go this weekend! Pray for me! LOL

Well, here the progress on my Panes of Change afghan. I have finished through round 45 in this picture...

Panes of Change Afghan

I am making this afghan for my son.

It's called "Panes of Change" by Frank O'Randle. He has some very impressive, non-boring afghan patterns. His crochet story is interesting to read on his site! I suspect I will be making more of his afghans. This one is ALOT of color changes so that means lots of ends. The pattern is written very well and I haven't found a single error so far.

Working on this pattern

Ravelry: Jordan - sleeveless pineapple top pattern by Vicky Chan

Finished all the squares for the Farm Blanket (minus sewing on all the EYES!) I plan to get started on joining the squares together today. I'm going to slip stitch them together.

Doggy Square

Another Eye-less critter for my farm blanket finished! (All except sewing the eyes!)

I promise they will all look a whole lot cuter once I get my buttons and sewing needles out! Actually, I think I already sent my button box over to the RV with Jeff so I don't have any buttons at my disposal right now.

Farm Blanket

I've still been working on my farm blanket here and there. Here it is layed out on the floor. Nothing has been sewed together yet.

I was planning on making it smaller with just these motifs but I decided to go ahead and make the 3 more to go with it. Working on the dog right now.

Silo

Chicken -- he has no EYES yet!

Tractor

Sheep - he has no EYES yet!

Cat - once again....no EYES yet! Haha!

Pig - He has one eye so far -- can you tell I don't like sewing on buttons?

Pretty much finished project

I guess I can't technically called it finished because I still have ends to weave in but hey, I'm lazy okay!

Here is the Little Blossom Blanket being modeled on my daughter's bed. The blanket is actually a twin sized blanket...her bed is a double. It's looks so cute with all the pink in her room. Now, what to do with it? Sell it? Give it? Don't know...I'd have to get $150 for this to sell it. Buying the yarn alone would cost you $80. I had so much fun making it though! Sewing the appliques on was a bit of non-fun work though.

Here's a sneak peek of what I'm working on now....Can you guess?

I have the Pineapple Princess blanket on my hook too and I'm actually getting really close to finishing that one. That one hasn't left my crochet bag except when I'm at my caretaking job.

Well, I've got to run now...I've got a date with a really sweet little old lady. I'm picking up Ms. Janie to take her to watch Alison dance at ballet tonight.

Back from a busy Spring Break at the stables.

I'm working on the border for my blanket. Still have to do rounds of white and darker pink....almost done!

I haven't had time to crochet much for the past couple of days but I am having so much fun making this Little Blossom Afghan! I've finished making all of the pink background squares. I started making the white background squares but I couldn't wait to start the appliques so I started on several of those!

These are not sewed onto the background squares yet...I just have them laid out and lots of ends to weave in too. Sewing won't be fun. It's going to be so cute!

I'll take my other finished afghan to my caretaking job with me this next week to weave in the ends.

Join as I go Scrap Granny Afghan

Well, I found something to keep my hands busy on the chilly evenings. It's very "scrappy" I know.

I sat through dance tonight and took video of all the dances for Alison. She has a whole lot of dances to get down pat. I realized that she is in every dance in the show except for the other two girls that have solos dances. The performance is a Christmas show called "Evensong" which featured a lot of different types of christmas music along with scripture readings for each dance. The whole show focuses on the light in darkness and the light of the world....should be very inspiring.

Wow, finally a Ta-Dah!

I'm really out of practice at this blogging! Here's my finished Hexagon Star Scrap Afghan!! I LOVE it! Here it is modeling on my bed but I will keep it on the couch for easy snuggling. It's all single crocheted motifs which make for a durable afghan so it's definately an afghan that can be used.

If I dare...I might even like making another one of these with a set color scheme. This one was made as a scrap afghan so no yarn needed to be purchased.

Hexagons & Scrap Afghan

Ah....the horses, cows, and llamas are fed and I'm just sitting here on my porch with the sound of chewing all around me. It's a bit on the cold side here but not too bad if you are in the sunshine. The girls and I went to the thrift stores in town today and made some other stops to say hello to people. I bought me a couple of sheets to start cutting for a rag rug.

Yesterday, Alison and I went over to stables. I showed Mrs. Stables how to do some stuff on the computer and how to cut the material for her to crochet a rag rug. It motivated me to want to make one too! I called my sister to tell her I'm motivated so if they can start cutting up my mom's clothes, I can make the rugs I promised. My mom left behind a lot of clothes and the idea was to make a keepsake rug for the sisters from her clothes. You know how you remember what your mom wore. Alison is already grown attachments to my clothes. She has a night gown that I wanted to throw away because it was so thread bare.

Other random stuff going on....we've got a baby llama that we separated from it's mama a few days ago. We have the baby in a stall and the idea is to start taming it. Alison has been working on her and today her and Phoebe made some headway with it. They were able to get it to stop running away at times and pet it. The llama should do better and better the more we mess with her.

Also, we have two baby cows! The steers will be separated in the next week or so...so we don't have anymore babies! These were really unplanned babies that no one was expecting!

Um....let's see what else....Jeff is happy because today is his "Friday". He has tomorrow and Monday off! The first two days he's had off in 6 weeks! He'll have a day to work here at the ranch and a day to rest.

I've been working on making some hexagons to make this purse I found on this blog:
Almond Blossom Bag

The picture is really terrible on the colors. They also don't really look like hexagons...they sorta look like circles!

My scrap yarn ball box was filling up so I have also been working on adding that yarn to my scrap afghan.

~ Picture of Completed Prairie Star Afghan ~

Finally!! I still haven't taken the pictures I wanted to take of it. The plan was to have the kids hold it up for me to get a good picture of it. It's big so it's hard to get the whole thing! Anyway, here it is laid out on my bed!

Prairie Star Afghan - Free Pattern

Ah, tonight I went to put the chickens up and the chicken roost had fallen over on the ground and there was a chicken pinned under it! I thought it was dead but when I lifted it up, it got up! I hope it's okay and I'm really hoping I don't find a dead chicken in the morning!

Finally - Prairie Star Progress Post!

I finished a round of the Prairie Star! The long side of the rectangle is done. Now, I have to fill in to make it a rectangle. I'm liking it but the colors could be better. Not good but not bad either. Now, that I have this one made, it will make color selections on the next one a lot easier.

Hmmm....maybe a double wedding ring afghan next? it's another one of those afghans I've looked at for years and said I would like to make some day...Not sure....

Lots of stuff! -- Image Heavy!

I have a friend is thinking of starting a craft store in town. She asked if I would be interested in teaching a crochet class. Hmmm...I'm sorta an introvert so it would be a challenge for me. I've never taken a craft course of any kind so I'm thinking about that and how I would go about it. She was thinking I should charge $10 an hour and require them to buy their supplies in her store. Not sure how it should work, maybe a class on chain stitch and sc and another on hdc and so on? Or I thought, maybe teach a class on mastery of chain stitch and single crochet and then come up with some small project they can complete in sc so they will be motivated. I was also thinking maybe a class on crochet pattern reading for people that know the mechanics of crochet but don't know how to read a pattern? I was thinking the more things she can offer inside the store to bring people in would help....demonstrations and maybe craft groups to meet there. I'm open to any ideas! Feel free to email me with ideas or suggestions! The more I think about it, the more excited I get...it could be fun! We'll see if she actually gets the store open...

Ah, it's miserable weather this week. It's slushy mud everywhere. We have been sitting here inside and not wanting to go out. Of course, my car has been inoperable since last Friday. I think he finally got it fixed today!

Then, we found out that someone has gotten our debit card number and was charging things to our account. One charge went through but we caught 4 more that were pending for about $700. They wouldn't have gone through anyway because we don't have that much money! LOL! Well, the bank cancelled the pending charges and reversed the one that went through. Don't know how they got the number as we rarely use our debit card anyway since we rarely have money in there. If it's not one thing, it's another!

Last night was the first night that Grace didn't sleep in the house. We have a large hay barn right beside our house and we put her in there during the day since it was raining. You would think she would have an endless supplies of food to munch on but contrary to popular opinion, deer do not eat hay! She's laying in it and has hay bales all around her and she doesn't touch it. It's a grass/alfalfa mix! She seems to really like it in there so we decided to see how she fared in there last night. She's such a picky eater...she needs a large variety...We have been gathering branches and various green things and laying them around in there for her to browse through. She has corn and various types of grain. We let her out for a little while the rain let up a little bit yesterday and she munched a bit and then went back in the barn on her free will. Today, I let her out and she followed me around! She knows I'm a protector for her.

We decorated our Christmas Tree last night!

Alison was taking pictures...Michael & I don't like our pictures taken...HA!

I have several crochet projects going on right now. I'm working on a Christmas project that I'm not extremely motivated on....can you guess what it is?... NOT!! Ha! Ha!

I also got started on my Prairie Star again last night.

My shawl is finished...

Ta-Da!

Well, here is the finished Bulky Fisherman Afghan!

Maybe I should have used a darker color...but the texture of the stitches wouldn't have stood out as much. This afghan has already seen a lot of use even before I was finished with it. It's very warm and comfy.

Now, I need to get back to my Prairie Star afghan! Before I do that, I'm going to see if I can come up with something my son has asked for. He wants me to crochet him a hat to wear over his baseball cap with a slit for the bill in the front. I'm really terrible at designing patterns but I'm going to give it a shot.

Remember my Fisherman Afghan?

Well, it's been getting used like crazy even with all of my loose ends waiting to be weaved in. Everyone loves it because its so warm. Unfortunately, the dogs seem to love it too! Anyway, I took it to Alison's dance class last night with me. I figure if I brought nothing else I would be forced to weave all those ends in! Well, I'm happy to report....Mission Accomplished! Sorry, no picture yet. I've decided that I will not add the tassels like the pattern calls for. With all our animals, it's just not conducive to our lifestyle so it still needs a simple border to be truly a finished project. I will be adding at least a single crochet border all the way around...we'll see what I come up with.

This weekend is the big show! It's called "A Series of Lessons & Dances". It's going to blow this little town away. The girls are so good! Alison had full dress rehearsal tonight.

My car broke down on the way home! Thank God, I made it to our road and we still had a cell phone signal so Jeff came and got us. We *think* it's just a belt came off. I hope so anyway...that's the last thing we need right now!

How about my little dear deer, Grace? Well, today she started wanting to roam so we went on a little walk. She was pulling her bad foot and we ended up about 100 yards away from the house and UP a hill!
See her way up there?.....She did it herself!

Well, we spent the rest of the day running around like we were chasing a two year old! LOL! It wasn't that bad but she was really getting around today. We ended up putting her in the fenced in garden area for a while today where she would be safe. They have a very large garden area that is fenced and there is a lot of weeds, clover and stuff for her to munch on in there. One thing I have learned about deer is that they like a big variety in foods. She likes stuff but she doesn't want too much of one thing. She LOVES carrots but after 4 or 5 baby carrots, she's done and wants something else. We try but it's hard to imitate her grazing in nature. Now, we are having to start to deal with new wounds on her good leg. She had cuts that she got on the barbed wire that she keeps licking and opening up. Now, we have to try to treat those as well. She's a little mess!

Alison has been making Christmas cards -- here's a few of her creations....
