Another new dog

This is the last one....no more dogs!! We now have 5 dogs! We got this little girl at the rodeo. She had been running around unclaimed at the rodeo grounds for 2 nights. She reminds me of our dog Brindy that died of heart failure years ago. She even acts a lot like her. She is super sweet and will get along good with our other dogs.

I'm not sure what kind of dog she is. She looks a lot like the rat terriers we already have but her body is a lot skinnier and has longer legs.

New kittens

We've actually had the kittens over a week now but I've been preoccupied with other stuff to post.
A couple of weeks ago, our landlord lady comes over with these two kittens in her hands. She basically, dropped the kittens off to us, said "we had to take them...they can just live outside" and ran off with me standing there holding these two kittens. So here they are... after the shock wore off, I'm getting attached to the little cuties. They stayed inside for a few nights because I was worried about my dogs getting them. Now they are staying outside and holding their ground with the dogs. They are fun and cute to watch.

Just for fun, here is a couple of pictures I took of Alison yesterday with her beloved Princess...

Our Menagerie

I do apologize for my lack of crochet content on my crochet blog, but alas my crochet blog has become so much more for me. I have never been any good at keeping a journal but my blog has become a priceless record for me of what is going on in my life. One day, when I have the funds I will print my blog in a book format. We won't forget all the adventures we had! This little deer is one of them...she has been very time consuming but so very fun! She got up by herself today while we had her in the yard. So she still seems to improve every day but I am a little worried about her because she has started gritting her teeth tonight. That means she's in pain. The owner came home today. He said we can take her to the vet after the weekend. I think she really needs to have that leg treated. It's doing okay but it's a very bad wound and it would really be good for it to be stitched and of course any other advice on how to care for her. We are cleaning and wrapping the wound every day but it still bleeds but it's all the way to the bone.

Ernie had to be rushed to the vet today. Michael found him wallowing around and he had gone after a porcupine! Michael rushed him up to Mr. Grain's house (the owner). Michael went with him to hold Ernie for the 40 mile drive. They had to sedate Ernie while they removed approximately 40 quills from inside his mouth and head. They said he probably would have died if Michael wouldn't have found him.
Here's Ernie (before porcupine attack):

What my hubby brought home....

He is so tiny! Not much bigger than a small dog!

Exactly what Alison has been wishing for! It's not exactly good timing to be bottle feeding a newborn goat with Alison's dance show coming up this weekend but it's what we got. Jeff spent the day at a ranch helping drench and worm hundreds of goats. This little guy's mother died giving birth to his brother. They think he was born last night. His chances for survival are not for sure. The owner said we could try and sent us home with a bottle and goat formula. Alison has been wanting to bottle feed a baby goat. She just needs to be prepared that he may or may not make it. Jeff is on his way home from a friends house that has goat colostrum and goat milk in their freezer. They have been through this many times before and are giving us some pointers. His chances are much better if we get colostrum in him.

He's been having a good time hanging out with all the old men in the RV park. Wednesday night he was up at the community room until about 10 pm playing games with all the old people. Today, he got his school work done earlier so he could go over to the neighbor's where they are "turning wood" on the lathe. Some of the old men will come over there and pull up their lawn chairs and watch. Some days it feels like a Normal Rockwell picture around here!

Michael came home with his project tonight...it had broken on him.

This is a coffee scoop he brought me. He didn't make this one.

Pretty cool, huh?

Miracle in my backyard

The most amazing thing happened to us today. My husband was just sitting at the table on on the deck today when a little bird flew right up and landed on the table right next to him and started screaming at him and holding his mouth open like he wanted to be fed. He quickly sent Michael to dig some worms. This little bird was hungry! He seems to think my husband is is mama! We fed him and he flew a short distance away to the fence. We left the house for several hours then came back and he came back again screaming for food! We fed him more worms. He won't pick them up from the table himself. He holds his mouth open real wide and we drop them in. He flew away and landed in a tree. He started crying again and he seemed to be stuck. Jeff went over and when he saw him, he came to him. It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen!

Here's the latest pictures of Libby and Belle. They are learning to "Sit" so I was actually able to get them to sit still for a picture by bribing them with cheese!! :) They are a little over 10 weeks old now!

Introducing Libby & Belle

These are our two new Toy Rat Terriers...the same breed as Brindy was. The pictures don't do their size justice. They are very tiny. Belle is smaller than Libby. She only weighed 1 pound when we took them to the vet on Saturday.
