A terrible thing happened to us this weekend....
2 commentsWe took a trip to San Antonio this weekend to attend a Ron Paul Presidential Rally and Fundraiser. I have really been looking forward this event! We had a great weekend...we met up with some friends from Houston up for the same event at their relatives house near where we stayed on Friday. We camped at the Pedernales Falls State Park. Then, on Friday night we visited with some old friends of mine from Blanco. (Hi, Denise! - sorry for keeping ya'll up so late!) Saturday was FULL day at the rally.
For those interested in looking, here are some YouTube Videos of the event:
The first one is done by a guy in our meet-up group. We're in it briefly.

I don't know who shot this video but the kids are on the sidewalk at the beginning of this one..

So on with my story.....we packed up and started our trip home on Sunday. We stopped at the Alamo Cafe to eat....we were gone from our truck an hour or so. When we came back, our truck had been broken into....my brand new camera with all of our pictures from the trip were one on there....my purse....Jeff's Ipod....Jeff's work lap top computer....all gone. Jeff called the police and I called the bank. They had already charged $147 on my debit card at the HEB down the street. I can't tell you how sick I've been over this....just disgusted. Jeff can't work without his lap top and we had pictures of us with Ron Paul that were very important to us on that camera...not to mention the fact that I haven't finished paying for that camera from Best Buy yet! We had gone to the HEB to see if they had video of the person using our card. They had video and found out the person had purchased a carton of cigarettes and a $100 phone card..then, turned around and made the exact same purchase on a different card. Probably someone else's card they had stolen! It's a long story but we ran into problems the whole ordeal and learned that the system is designed to protect the criminal. Apparently, its a pretty common occurrance at the Alama Cafe...he said they usually use the card quickly because they know you're going to come out and cancel your cards. Then, they usually dump your stuff at a Pawn Shop quickly, too. Well, we ended up pulling the camper to another state park to stay longer since it took so long to deal with the mess and Jeff couldn't work anyway.
We're home now and getting ready to leave town again on Friday for Iowa.
Praying people...please pray the police are able to recover some of our stuff....especially my camera!!! WAAAA!!!!!! :(
