Crochet Me Crazy

I've heard it said too many times now.... "I've heard around that..." It's pretty comical and it's pretty tempting to just pass on false information to a particular person just to see how fast it will come around as something "heard around" It's so predictable, it's amusing. It could make a pretty fun game...but I guess I'll resist the temptation! LOL! --- My ears are itching!

Well, we're trying to get into the groove of school and dance again. Alison is doig a History curriculum that is literature based. She is going to read about 16 books this year -- I'm going to do my best to read them with her. We've started on Uncle Tom's Cabin....so far so good!

Today we went to town and bought groceries...and boy did I buy groceries! It's been so long since I've been able to grocery shop for myself and have time to cook some decent meals. I was sending Jeff to just pick up stuff to keep us alive most of the summer.

After we got back, we loaded up Honey, the horse Alison is going to use for barrels, and took her to the rodeo arena to let Alison practice. FFA is putting on a rodeo this weekend and the kids are wanting to participate. We just haven't had time to practice.

Jeff has been trying to get some work done when he can around his job out at the house we're moving into. Big things are getting our washer and dryer hooked up, putting up a good solid fence for Gracie so the dogs won't get her and today I discovered the kitchen sink leaks so he's got to fix that. I'm spending the night there this weekend since we'll be doing horse rides. It'll be easier being right there. I just might not come back! LOL!

After nights of going to sleep with her mouth throbbing and blisters on her cheeks, I think her actual teeth are not quite as sore as they were. Both Alison and Morgan are constantly making strange facial expressions trying to get used to the new hardware in their mouths.

The tourist season is really starting to wind down around here. It's been such a fun summer but I guess I'm ready for a slower pace for a little while. I can't wait to have time to relax a little and start to have time to crochet again. My wedding ring afghan is tucked away and waiting for fall crocheting! The schools here start on Monday. Our curriculum is on it's way and our school year wil start as soon as it gets here. Alison starts dance tomorrow!

Last night the kids talked us into taking them bowling after work. We load up the truck with Michael, Alison, Morgan and Serenity and went and ate chinese food and then shut the bowling alley down. They are upset that school starts tomorrow and everyone seems to think they will never see each other again! With all the activities, homework and early bed times...I guess it will be a big change to get used to.

I'm home today and Alison is at the stables. We'll be heading over there later on to get Alison and to do some things on the house. I'm going to take a load of stuff I don't use over there. Jeff has to get a fence built around the house for my deer, Gracie. Of course, she is going with us!

Well, today Alison and Morgan got their braces on! Alison isn't much happy with her appearance. She looks as pretty as ever. It'll take some getting used to and there's some pain going on this evening! I am AMAZED at how fast they put those things on now days! It was less than an hour and bam...they were on!

We got to see my sister and her boyfriend and celebrate my sister graduating with her Bacherlor's Degree! An accomplishment she has worked hard for.

We did one ride on Friday and then came home and packed up to leave for San Antonio. We got into town around 4'ish and went and checked into the hotel. We beat my sister there by a short time. They came and we went to explore the hotel. We sat by the pool and visited for a short time before we decided to go have dinner at the Magic Time Machine. We invited Morgan with us last minute for Alison to have someone to hang out with since Michael couldn't come. (He had to work)

The kids wanted to do something so we took them to the skating rink. Then we went back to the hotel and sat around the pool again and visited while they swam in the pool. We got to bed really late that night. I'm not used to that anymore so I was really dreading the morning. We got up and met my sister and her boyfriend in the lobby for breakfast at 9 am. The rest of the day we spent getting a little shopping done. We had an early dinner and then they left to drive home. We stayed in San Antonio and went downtown. The kid's went in a mirror maze, we walked around The Alamo and then a short walk on the riverwalk on the way back to the car...we were running out of time. We hit the last two stores on the way out of town...Academy for jeans and Cavender's for boots. We dropped Morgan off at his house at 11 pm and then came home. It started raining and rained all night. We had quite a few rides on the board today but we got rained out so we all took a nap today!

Well, we had a big storm today! Lots of wind and hail and we were out in town with Bee. We went into town and had lunch with her today since it was slow at the stables. We were afraid her truck was going to have hail damage but it turned out okay.

Jeff came over to the stable today to work on the water leak at the house we're moving into. The house is really small again and this time we're all moving into it. I don't want them to have the extra expense of us plugging in our RV so we're just going to park it next to the house and use it for storage. Our accomodations are not as nice as here but I think we'll be a lot happier. We've spent so much time there & I feel much more at home there than I ever have here. Alison will be living with her own horse that she loves so much and will be able to ride and work with her whenever she wants as well as the all of the other horses out there that we love so much....31 of them! Now that the decision has been made...I'm just ready to do it.

Well, it looks like we are moving sooner rather than later. I'm not sure (well, I have an idea...) what is going on with the lady we work for but it seems the warnings we got from people about moving out here are coming to light. I'm a little overwhelmed with the idea of moving but it is what it is and we've gotten pretty darn used to dealing with the punches. I don't regret moving out here though...there was a lot of good things about it at the beginning. Alison was able to learn a lot from Mrs. Grain and she has greatly enjoyed the horses. I will miss their dogs and their horses. But there is a time and season for every thing under heaven is how I see it and I guess this season is over. We're moving out the the stables where we do the trail rides now. Jeff has to fix a water leak on the house we're moving into before we can move though. The water is turned off to the house until it's fixed. He got the stuff today to fix it with. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me as we go through this process. The summer is coming to an end and I'll be having more time shortly.

We are actually really looking forward to this weekend! We asked for the day off on Saturday and we are meeting my sister in San Antonio Friday. We are going to spend the night Friday night and hang out with them on Saturday. We'll come home Saturday night. I'm excited both to see my sister and it's going to be fun to get away too. We really need it.

Today was so hot....I was sweating in the shade doing nothing. I went to check the weather and it said the heat index was 117! No wonder I was sweating so much today. Despite the heat, we still had a decent day. I feel sorry for the horses when they have to do the rides in the heat of the day. Luckily, most of the rides were in the morning though. The AC in the house is now not being fixed until Friday! I'm in no hurry to get home to the hot house. Today, Alison and I went to the state park to pick up Morgan from work and then they went swimming....and today, I got in the river too! I don't do that often but today, it was called for.

Tomorrow, is going to be a busy morning! I'm heading off to dreamland....

Well, I'm still without AC at my house. We are waiting for the part to come in. Well, this is one instance where I've very glad that I am never home. The Grain's have been out of town so we come home and swim in their pool. Then, it's pretty much time for bed. I'll be glad when I get my bed back!

Today, we are having a slow day at the stables. I am waiting for our 3 o'clock ride to get here now.

Last night was the last Horse Club play day of the summer. Alison didn't win a buckle but she got 2nd in her age category. It was a whole lot of fun participating for their first time this year. Next year will be even more fun!

We came home the night before last to a house as hot as a furnace...the A/C has apparently quit working at some point during the day. There was no way I was sleeping in that hot house last night so I slept in the RV with Alison. I slept terrible and was waking up all night so I was sooo tired yesterday. Then, last night all of us from the stables were invited out to our house for moonlight ride. We went to their house for hamburgers and the kids swam in the pool. Then, they all saddled up and went riding in the full moon. I babysat Serenity while they all went.

The A/C people came out yesterday but they have to order a part so the air won't be fixed until Friday.

Morgan and Alison are back together. The break up lasted 1 week. Morgan has decided he can't live without Alison so they are more serious than ever now. Well, it sure makes life easier on everyone now that they have patched it up!
