I'm crocheting again!
1 commentsNo pictures yet because I'm still out a computer, but things are back to normal enough around here for me to crochet again! I'm on the last few rounds of the star shaped baby afghan I started this weekend. Alison started back to dance today and I wanted something small to work on while I waited so I made a cute little baby bib out of cotton yarn. It was quick and easy. I think I'm going do a few other small projects for the short term satisfaction before I get started back on my King Sized Afghan Project. I'm thinking of some baby booties and another bib using a different pattern. I also finished some slippers for Michael last week. They turned out really good. He's been wearing them every day! He really appreciated every thing I make for him. He's such a sweet boy. I really like this slipper pattern I used here: Hexagon Boot Slippers To make them child size, I went by the instruction for a small size but I also used a DC instead of the the TRC that the instructions called for. My son wears a boys 5 and they fit him perfectly.
I'm toying with the idea of selling some of the extra items I crochet. Sometimes see things I wish I had someone to crochet it for...especially baby stuff. I don't have a need for baby items myself. I might just start crocheting whatever I see and if its extra, put it up for sale. Might be a good way to partially support my yarn habit if it works!! Lol! I mean if something sells, its sells...if it doesn't then I'll tuck it away for when I need a gift. I don't want to get into taking orders really though unless its something I really really like to make...I mean, I don't want my hobby to turn into "work".
I talked to Amanda, my friend from New Orleans that I talked about in earlier posts for a long time last night. Actually, I talk to her almost every day but last night we talked for a really long time. Meeting her has been such a blessing to me. She constantly amazes me with her faith, her spirit, her strength, her contentment, and her ability to stay positive through it all. I know that meeting her has taught me a lot. She has been in Ft. Worth for the past month where she went to find her kids. This is the 3rd place they have shuffled around to and still have nowhere to go. They are coming back to Houston this weekend though!!! Yea! I can't wait to see them but they will be staying at a motel in Victoria, Texas because that is the only place they could find that would give them a little time for free while they try to take care of some business. The red tape with trying to get temporary housing through FEMA is amazing. She is a worker though and is ready to get settled somewhere so she can get back to work. She says she misses that alot. I'm sure they will spend a few night with us to make it easier for them to get where they need to go in Houston without having to drive back and forth from Victoria....its about a 2 hour drive from Houston. Her son has managed to get a vehicle so he'll be able to help them get around some as well as us.
Well, the rest of my computer cord should be coming THIS WEEK...so more stories and pictures to come. I'll post the pictures and patterns then.
Good night~
