Slipper Time!
Labels: slipper crochet 0 comments
Okay, I've really got this slipper thing down now. I'm about to try the next pair using a popcorn stitch or something else different. I'm going to make a bunch of these up to put in a craft booth. Not sure what to charge though.

I've really felt like crocheting alot
Labels: baby crochet, slipper crochet 0 commentsStill working on Alison fuzzy blanket but I really felt like taking a break and doing some quick projects. I made this little baby dress and these slippers between yesterday and today
You can find the free pattern for this here: Baby Girl Sleeper I may or may not make the diaper cover to go with it.
Even though I've been crocheting, I've still been getting lots of other stuff done. I made major progress on cleaning and straightening out the school room. I posted some of my crochet pattern books for sale and sold them. I have more to sort through but since those sold, I'm willing to get rid of more. We got the back yard cleaned up a lot today and there's a mountain of trash for the trash guys to pick up tomorrow. We're getting ready to put our house on the market so there's lots to do around here. Alison has been getting rid of stuff like crazy and she did an amazing job cleaning it. It looks so empty and clean now and she did it all by herself. The kids have been helping me out A LOT. They wanted Runescape memberships so we made them both a daily chore list and they've been doing their lists diligently for about 2 weeks so last night we got them both their memberships. They do things like empty the dishwasher, pick up clutter, clean the sinks, toilet, sweep, make the bed, empty laundry hampers, put up their clothes, etc. As long as they keep their lists up, we'll keep the memberships. They are both doing a great job.
Oh but it wasn't just work and no play while I was gone....they also played dress up with the dogs. Poor Libby is a clown....
But don't worry, those spoiled little dogs get lots of love too:
Did I mention I have great kids?

Working on fuzzy blanket for Alison
Labels: afghans 0 comments
Hmmm....if it was a baby blanket, I could be done by now.
By the way, I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and they had all of their Yarn Bee yarn on clearance for $1.19. Regular price $4-$7. They had bins and bins of it. I was good...I only bought 4 balls Alison picked out for a hat and scarf set for the winter. I've got way too much yarn already.

Back from my CT Scan
0 commentsWell, I've been running around all day to hospital, doctor, lab, pharmacy, etc. and I just got home. I went for a CT Scan this morning. They put an IV in my arm and put dye in me which was not pleasant at all. It made me nauseated. Then, I went for my blood work where they stuck me again. The doctor called me with the results of my CT Scan before I even made it home. There was nothing on the scan....they thought it was going to be stones in my perotid gland but there was no stones and no tumors. So now all the serious things are ruled out the doctor said. The only thing that showed on the CT Scan was a lot of inflammation and swelling. Well, duh..
But at least we ruled out the serious stuff. He prescribed me some antibiotics and some anti-inflammatory medication. Hopefully, it will settle down and not give me any more problems. I had ALOT of problems with it this past weekend. I looked so terrible, I couldn't go out in public. I woke up with a double-chin Sunday morning...all puffy and swollen.
Well, that's the good news.... $700 worth of good news! LOL
Raining snakes and squirrels?
1 commentsI'm sitting on my computer on the back porch last night when I hear a thud and a squeak. I saw something fall out of the tree and land on the trampoline. When I see movement, I told Jeff there's something alive that just fell on the trampoline! We run over and see this!!
Of course, Michael is very excited with the thought of getting a different kind of snake skin. It turned out to be a really lucky night for the squirrel and a very unlucky night for the snake. Jeff and Michael put the snake and the squirrel in a bucket with glass over it and we freaked the snake out bad enough to finally let go of the poor little flying squirrel. As soon as he did the squirrel made a mad dash for it and we let him jump out of the bucket. The snake wasn't so lucky....
This snake was over 36" long!
What's filling my time....
0 commentsVisiting mama....She was doing okay yesterday when I went to see her.
Going to the doctor....I went to the doctor for myself on Tuesday. The doctor thinks I most likely have a stone in my perotid gland (salivary gland) which is causing swelling in the right side of my face. He told me to suck on lemon drops to try to increase saliva production. I'm going for a CT scan next Tuesday.
We spent most of the night at Best Buy last night! We had a credit balance on our credit card so we decided to go use it for Michael's birthday present and spent all this time picking out stuff. Then, when we got to the counter, the credit card was inactive because we hadn't used it in so long. They tried to re-activate it so we could use the credit balance but they wouldn't and they are going to mail us a check. Well, it sorda defeated the purpose since we went to Best Buy to buy the stuff for that reason. We could've requested the balance by check ourselves and shopped around. We ended up going ahead and buying the stuff since at Best Buy since we had already spent so much time shopping for it. Oh well, anything to avoid Wal-Mart is worth it!
Jeff has been working nights alot this week installing a job. He's the salesman, not a technician, but special circumstances are requiring him and another guy to install this job after hours.
We contacted a realtor about selling our house! He's looking at the market and we'll going to see what happens with that.
I'm crocheting a blanket for Alison. I'm about to take a break from that start making some American Girl doll clothes. We have a retreat coming up at the end of August with my favorite preacher, John Weaver, teaching. People set up tables and sell their wares at. I think I might bring some of my crochet stuff this year. I think the doll clothes might be a good thing to sell so I'm going to give it a try.
Mom went to hospital last night
Labels: Mama 0 commentsLast night we had a scare with my mom when the assisted living called and said my mom had fallen and she wasn't getting up. I ran up there to find her laying on the wood floor with pillows and blankets and Marilyn, the director, was laying down with her. I could tell the degree of pain my mom was in compared to when she fell and broke her hip last time wasn't as much but there was no way to be sure. She wasn't getting up this time so we called the ambulance. We went to Tomball Hospital and by the time we got there she was really moving around so I was feeling pretty good about this outcome this time. They checked her out and she was fine so they released her and we were back at the assisted living within 3 hours. What a relief that she is okay! Poor mama....she's quite the little trooper.

Another camping adventure comes to a close....

We left Thursday heading to Cleburne State Park. We got off to a great start until we had a blow-out on the RV tire about 30 miles before we got to Waco. It was hot but Jeff and Michael got it changed pretty quickly and without incident. The plan was to get to Waco and go to a tire shop and get them to put 2 new tires on. We got to Waco and we can't believe it when we hear the noise of the other tire on the same side as the last flat blew! This time it was worse because we had to try to get to a parking lot and out of traffic to pull over and it also meant no waiting in the A/C while they changed our tire. We had to un-hook the RV and leave it in the parking lot while we drove the truck to find the tires. We were extremely lucky to find the tires after going to 3 different places before we found a Goodyear that had any trailer tires in stock and just before they closed too. We almost spent the night in Waco! Well, the Jeff and Michael came back and changed the tires in about an hour. He had to move some tires around so we had the good tires in the right place. We headed back on our way but ended up getting in late. We picked the best site we could find in the dark, all the while knowing we might had to move the next morning because there was some confusion about which sites were available since the park was full for the 4th of July. Sure enough, the next morning Jeff went down to the park office early to find out and the answer was yes...we would have to move because all of those sites were booked for the weekend. Well, things worked out nicely for us in the end, because the nicest spot in the park became available while we were shuffling around. Having that site, completely made the trip I think. Our fire pit was just steps from one of the nicest entrances to the lake. We had our own little beach area and never had to go to the public swim area. We had never camped at Cleburne before and was delightfully surpised at what a little gem the lake is. It's a very small lake and there were no ski boats or anything like that. It's a spring fed lake and the water was some of the cleanest lake water I've been to and the perfect temperature on the hot days. We spent a whole lot of time in the water and we all got a lot of sun! We did have one more event though....on Friday night, Jeff discovered water coming out from our storage compartment and that's when we figured out someone had left the water on the bathroom sink which filled up our holding tank, when then backed up into the tub, which then overflowed and when throught the vent and into the storage compartment. Okay, this was worse than the tires...this was not good at all. I was very worried ... did I do that? Do I need to be checked in to an alzheimer facility? Hardly anyone had been in the RV all day...I did go in there and used the sink.... the kid's washed their hands without being told?? What is going on here? The mystery was solved later that night luckily after Jeff had cooled down. My forensic investigative skilled had figured it out. A few hours before we went to bed, Michael had a kleenex sticking out of his nose. I asked him if he was having a nose bleed. Yes. Later in the night, after all the stressful flooding and I was brushing my teeth I saw the tiny drops of blood around the sink and a few on the mirror. I knew they weren't there earlier when I had used the sink. Okay, I'm very relieved now knowing I didn't do it! I went to tell Michael I had solved the mystery! He was very impressed with my investigative skills. The rest of trip went well other than we wasted part of our day Saturday driving to the Creation Evidence Museum in Glenrose, Texas which isn't very far away but when we got there they were so full they weren't letting anyone else in the building. There were people sitting everywhere in chairs outside listening to the lectures over a loud speaker. We ended up leaving and going to Dinosaur Valley State Park which was just a few miles up the road. That was a big mistake...it was extremely crowded with cars and people literally everywhere. You could hardly find a parking spot. We walked down to one set of dinosaur tracks and there were lots of people and relatively no water in the river. There were some people swimming the stagnant water. We made a quick decision not to waste anymore time and head back to our picturesque campsite in Cleburne. We all just felt like relaxing and not dealing with the crowds. We spent the rest of the day swimming and floating. We had planned to go to a meet my sister and brother-in-law at a fireworks display that night in a town near-by but ended up deciding not to go. We were tired of running around and wanted to play games that night and relax. We would've gotten back so late. It's good we ended up not going because Michael's was tired and went to bed even while we were playing games. Even though his cough was much, much better when he started the medications we got from the doctor this was the first night he really wasn't having any problems with coughing. He needed the rest. I only heard him cough a few times on the way home today in the car. We had religiously been giving him the Mucinex and the inhaler every 4 hours but today, he's only had it one time. He can use the inhaler on a 4 hour basis as needed but I think the whole thing it finally winding down. Anyway, I got a little carried away with details on this post and just so I don't forget for the next time we go there...we like sites #45, #46, #48 in that order.

Michael has been sick!
0 commentsIt's been a strange week here. Michael has been sick and hasn't really done much of anything for the past week. My groceries were actually going bad in the refrigerator because Michael wasn't eating everything up as fast as I could buy it! LOL I actually am having to throw away some bananas today which is un-heard of around here. He came down with a fever suddenly late last Thursday night. He ran fever for 2 days and then we thought he was on the up-swing. Then, he started coughing like crazy and really wasn't getting any rest. I started giving him Mucinex. Then he started running a low-grade fever again so we went to the doctor. They said giving him the Mucinex was a good move. We spent pretty much the whole day at the doctor yesterday because they sent us to the hospital for X-Rays. His lungs were perfectly normal so they said it was a virus...they gave him a breathing treatment, then decided to treat him for Bronchitis since he was still running a fever. He was prescribed antibiotics and an inhaler which he started yesterday. They gave him a Z-pack antibiotics which is pretty strong I guess because he took two pills yesterday, the first day and then he takes only 4 more pills and he's done. He had a coughing fit this morning and we gave him the inhaler and it seemed to help.
