Scorpion!!

This little sapsucker is DEAD now!

I've lived in the Hill Country for the greater part of my life and I've never been stung by a scorpion. Today was the day! OUCH!! It hurts like Hades and for a LONG time too! I was pretty stupid and was being careless being in a hurry to get a few things done before I had to go to work today. I was moving some pots on the front porch making room for a table and I stepped on him. I didn't realize it at first...I mean I felt a big pain but I thought I had stepped on something sharp and was expecting to see blood. Then I saw the scorpion. I grabbed my toe and started squeezing as I felt the pain getting worse. Squeezing it was helping so I just plopped down and squeezed it and called for Alison. She brought me ice and I sat there squeezing and putting ice on it. It HURTS!!!! My lips and tongue started tingling and getting numb. I had Alison look up what essential oil to use for it on the internet. It said Frankinsence...I have it! I put the Frankinsence and it helped. Then we added another blend of essential oils Alison has and it helped with the pain. I sat for 30 or 40 minutes in ice water. I needed to go to work so I decided the oils helped enough with the pain that I could wrap it up in guaze with oils on it. I limped off to work. It's been almost 3 hours and it still hurts...it's bearable but it feels throbby. I'm sitting her at work with an ice pack on it. What a pain in the FOOT!!

We spent the day moving stuff out of our storage in Leakey yesterday to bring here. Mr. S let us borrow his trailer so it made it easy to get everything we needed. I'm switching to my own bed and got some Alison's scrapbooking hutch and dresser. I got all my yarn and just a bunch of other stuff I need. Especially my vacume cleaner!! I can't wait to get after my house with the vacume! Sweeping doesn't cut it for me.

I finished another hat on Saturday. They still need ribbon weaved through them. Colors aren't right. The one hat that looks pink and blue is actually pink and purple and the one that looks yellow and red is actually yellow and a dark pink!

Unfinished Crochet Projects

Here's what I've been working on...I'm making these hats in various sizes and colors. Quick project to give me something to do at work. I figure I'll get a little stash saved up and I can try to sell them at the Trade Days one weekend.

The dress is for Treelyn but it's not quite finished. I have some trim to add around the arms and embellishments to add to make it look "patriotic" for the 4th of July. Come to think of it...maybe I better make a hat to go with it.

I've been working alot

I had 3 long days working Friday, Saturday and Sunday again this past weekend. Hey, I get behind on my work at my own house but at least I get paid to crochet! I had this dress and barefoot sandals *almost* finished yesterday when I got off. I didn't want to fasten everything off and weave in the ends until I was sure it was going to fit her so I ran by last night to try it on her.

It fits!!

She's 8 months old now and she only gets cuter and cuter! She is crawling around now and laughing and being a little ham!

I love these two so much! I really miss not seeing them as much as I used to. We live so far from town now and we work so much....

Last night after I got home I finished up the whole outfit. I sewed matching flowers on the dress and made a headband to match! Can't wait to go over there and try it all on her!

Oh and if you're wondering what pattern I used. It's called "Halter Dress" by Mon Petit. First time I've ever used one of this designers patterns and it was very well written and easy to understand. No errors at all! I'll be making more of her stuff!

Next project on my list is to make a "tulle" and crochet dress for Treelyn....

Just got back last night from an over-night excursion to San Antonio. Jeff had to be there for business so Alison & decided to make a trip to do a little shopping. We drove over Wednesday and spent the day at the mall. We spent the night and did a little more shopping on our way out of town. I went to Hobby Lobby and splurged on some yarn!

This was the real splurge but luckily it was on sale. Baby weight yarn I'm going to be making some things for baby Treelyn.

I've never had baby yarn in my stash. I better make some stuff while she's still little and it doesn't take that much yarn!

Starting on this dress today in pink with turquoise trim....

The making of a hat

Well, I'm sure you've seen those adorable Panama hats on the internet. I have had so many people send me that picture it's not even funny...even people that don't crochet have seen those hats!
That is what has inspired me to make this hat. This is a picture of what I had laid out on Friday night...

I've made some changes to it since then...it's been a process. I had three long, straight 15 hour days at my caretaking job and I spent a lot of time working on this. Finding the flower patterns and trying different ones was time consuming.

Anyway, I'm still working on it but this is what it looks like now.

I plan to make the spiral one next after this one. After that I think I will have had enough of these hats for awhile.

We've been iced in since Friday night until today. I don't know what it is but the weather is always ALOT more severe out here where we are. We are 15 miles out of town and it thaws in town before it thaws out here.
