I've been trying to post an update

but I just haven't been able to be on the internet for long enough to get it done.

It's hard to believe we've only been out of Houston for a week and a half! Seems like so much has happened. It's hard to believe we could be in such near bliss while my husband is unemployed. We are discovering that it would be fairly easy to get a job here locally. So now we are trying to decide to we keep waiting to see if the Houston jobs pan out or do we just go for it here and try to make a go of it here where we are. The kids never want to go back...I don't want to go back but we also want to be where God wants us to be so I will just keep praying that doors that need to be opened will open and doors that need to be closed will close. I have been practically offered two jobs here in the last week. So...without going into detail, maybe we will have a clearer picture in the next week.

We've met a nice christian lady in town who we've befriended. We are going to their house on Saturday. She was so excited to meet us when she found out we homeschooled and are christians. She homeschools her son here and has visions of a christian school. Her son plays the piano and she said her son could teach Alison to play the piano.

We moved out of the state park to a nearby RV park. This was the view from my RV door yesterday...

Today, this is what I see outside my window as I type....

It's beautiful and has much more comfortable amenities than the state park. We have internet and local TV here. They have super clean restrooms and laundry, not to mention the beautiful views and nice people. The also have a huge game room we can access 24 hours a day. We spent the evening last night playing ping-pong, pool, and we even played a game of shuffle-board. They have books, games, puzzles, a big TV with a WII and we had the place all to our selves last night. We can stay here for less than we stayed in Houston and they don't charge you extra for electricity. Oh..and also propane is quite a bit cheaper here!

I have made a lot of progress on the baby blanket I am working on. I would have finished this much sooner if I was still at our house. I'm not spending near as much time crocheting as I did at the house. It's probably because there is so much more to do here. Cooking and chores are a little more time consuming but it's okay.

Hail Storm

We had an interesting night last night. We all headed over to the park restrooms to take our showers last night. I hadn’t been in the shower but a couple of minutes when I started hearing a banging noise. I peeked out the shower to see if someone was in there…no one. I called to my daughter in the stall next to me…she thought it was me! Then it hit me! It was hailing! It proceeded to get louder and the door to the bathroom would blow open a little bit and some ice would blow in. We peeked out the door and saw massive amounts of quarter sized hail raining down. There was nothing I could do because we certainly couldn’t walk out in it without getting pelted. It hailed for about 5 minutes at least. When we opened the door, I couldn’t believe my eyes but the ground was covered white like it had snowed and there was a 6 inch pile of hail outside the bathroom door where it had rolled off the roof. We have no TV so we had no idea this was coming. It was beautiful, sunny and very warm all day!

We spent the day yesterday driving to the local small town trying to find some pumpkin and Pedialyte for our little dog. She has had diarrhea since Saturday and we’ve been worried about her. We’ve been reading on the internet on what to do to help her and withheld food for 24 hours and then gave her boiled chicken and rice mixed 50/50. She seemed to improve slightly and then today she got worse again and her little bottom is bothering her badly. We did some more reading and went in search of the pumpkin...strange but we were all so excited last night because she had her first solid bowel movement since the whole ordeal began on Saturday. It is amazing! Who would have ever thought of pumpkin!

Browse nearly 11,000 Free Crochet Patterns by category

A Whole lot of free crochet patterns at this site. I'm adding the link to my sidebar but posting here as well just so you don't miss it if you haven't already found this site!

I don't have internet access except on occasion when I can find a place to connect so my posting will be spotty. We are currently in a State Park right now.

Still don't have this down....

I'm a creature of habit and routine so this whole RV living thing is very good for me. I'm sure not to get stuck in a rut! Simple things like washing our clothes, getting groceries and mail we still haven't figured out how to do efficiently. The good news is I have very little housework and no yard work to do anymore! No use in getting it figured out now though, this is our last week here at this place. I'm not really complaining, just saying that the adjustment is going to take quite a while I think.

Now today is a crummy day, I woke up with my throat hurting last night while I was sleeping several times. I think it must be sinuses because I'm not running fever but I sure feel crappy. I laid back down and now I'm up to eat something because I realize that could be contributing to my head hurting since I haven't eaten today. Jeff went to town to get the mail and said he got a letter saying he never paid a seat-belt ticket and they issued a warrant for his arrest! WHAT!!! That was years and years ago when he got that ticket and we all remember it very well because we always wear our seatbelts and I remember why he happened to not have it on at that particular moment...We had our dog Brindy back then and we were having an emergency with her and were very annoyed because the cop was endangering our dogs life by stopping us just for a seat belt. He was under an over pass waving people over. I left Jeff on the side of the road with the cop so he could write his ticket and I could go save my dog! He absolutely DID take care of that ticket and paid in cash. I seriously doubt we have our receipt this Long later. I don't know what your supposed to do...I guess get reamed and pay the fine twice. I'm officially starting a folder and will save those records FOREVER now.

I hope no more stress today...I'm going to lay down...my head hurts.

Pineapple Lace Baby Blanket

Well, not much to show but this is an entire skein of yarn and I've started on the 2nd skein. It'll probably take 3 more to finish the blanket part before I get to start on the fun part which is the pineapple lace edging.

A little bit of minor RV remodeling

This is my RV kitchen.

As lovely as it is, it can be quite a challenge to cook for a family of 4 with this tiny bit of counter space. My husband did me a huge service yesterday and today by designing and adding be an extra 2 1/2 feet of fold-down counter space!
He's putting in up....

Here it is folded down:

Here's my new kitchen!

We (or actually "he") are not done with the kitchen yet though...I'll show pictures of that when it's done.

Start of Pineapple Lace Baby Blanket

I started this Saturday night. The pattern is called Pineapple Lace from Annie's Attic Crochet Quilt Club. I can't seem to find a completed picture of this anywhere online. I don't know if you can still buy this pattern or not. It looks pretty basic now but it has a beautiful pinepple edging that will really make it looks fancy when its done. Baby girls are so much fun to make afghans for.

Now that I'm living in the RV and don't have room for a lot of different yarns, I'm thinking I'll just keep making baby blankets and put them up for sale on www.Etsy.com but will people pay what a blanket is worth?
This particular blanket I know it cost me $20 in yarn to make it because I actually went and bought the yarn specifically for this blanket. I think this is the first time I have EVER done that! I usually just go into my stash and pick yarn from it but since my yarn stash is in storage, I couldn't do that. The cost in time is what is the tricky part. I am estimating about 2 hours of work on this so far.
