Alison and I are home for about 45 minutes getting ready to go up to the visitor's center to get refreshments ready and do the hay ride tonight. Mrs. Stable had to go out of town so she asked us if we would be willing to spend the night in the extra house tonight. She has a Border Collie named Dakota that has to be watched like a hawk so we're staying to babysit Dakota and feed the chickens. Actually, it'll be nice to be able to stretch our legs a bit. Even thought it's a tiny little house...it's big compared to the RV! Jeff brought the grill over there and he's going to be grilling hamburgers this evening.
I can't remember if I've already mentioned this or not but Jeff is studying to get his CDL license right now. He's going to start driving for Mr. Stable in the fall. (I made up the names Mr. & Mrs. Stable for use on my blog to protect the stable owner's anonymity) He owns two trucks and drives to North Dakota and other places for his business. I keep thinking...well, maybe Jeff isn't unemployed anymore! He's actually working everyday now. It's just an adjustment because we won't be making the kind of money he used to make but I think it's really worth it. We are all so much happier now and our lives are so much richer. We spend virtually no time at all doing time-killing things we used to do like sit on the computer or watch TV. Alison likes to say "she got a life" and she didn't even have to download it! LOL
We're going to be starting a fall garden at the Stables. We want a garden and so does she but doesn't have time to do it. They have a tiller and all the stuff we need so we're going to start working on it pretty soon (in our spare time - HA!)
The kid's made this hide-out out of the hay we hauled in last week but I'm just now getting around to posting a picture of it.
They made themselves a little window the can look out and see the horses.
They go up there to work on their school work that I've tried to get them started on early. It's proving to be very difficult to get it done. Things will slow down and change around here a whole lot once the tourist season is over though. We'll have to buckle down then.
Gee, is it the weekend already? Hope everyone has a great weekend!
