We picked a great night to sit outside on Monday night....
1 commentsWe sat around the fire and talked, then we got the air mattresses and laid outside and talked. It was a cool and breezy night. We stayed up way too late, woke up way too late, then got on the road to San Antonio way too late on Tuesday. Now that Jeff got paid to do the stair job, we planned the trek to San Antonio during the week so we could go to the homeschool store and buy curriculum for the kids.
We had bought Michael some cheap work boots at Wal-Mart the week before. He wore them one day to work in and the sole started coming off immediately! I took them back to Wal-Mart and now have one more reason not to shop there. I hate Wal-Mart and buy very, very little there. I try to shop little stores like Dollar General instead. So, we went to the boot store to look at boots. Michael and Jeff's shoes are literally falling apart so they are first in line for new shoes. Alison wants, and actually needs boots too, but hers will have to wait. Her foot is still a little sore from being stepped on by a horse but she was wearing inadequate shoes. Of course, its never good to get your foot stepped on by a 1,000 pound animal in any shoes.... We learned a lot about boots and got fitted so we at least know what sizes they need. My little girl needs a size 9 1/2 women's size boot! Michael came home with a new pair of boots that are supposed to be one of the the toughest boots they have. We'll see....if they survive Michael then they should use him on a commercial! He can wear out a pair of shoes faster than any kid I've ever seen.
Anyway...I digress...after all of our little stops and errands trying to take advantage of being in a big town, we didn't get to start grocery shopping until at least 10pm. By the time we got home it was 2:00 am! Then, we realized we forgot the gate keys to the park and didn't know the new combination since we never need it. I had to drop Jeff and Michael off at a different gate so they could walk to the RV and get the gate keys and let me in at the main entrance. We came in, put our cold stuff up and left the rest of the groceries laying on the floor and went to bed. We all had to get up early. I worked in the vistor's center but the kids still got up early and went with their Dad to the stables even though they only got about 4 hours of sleep. They could've stayed home if they wanted to today. I know everyone is going to be exhausted tonight when they get home. They are staying late to help unload a truck-load of hay. Well, at least I don't have to cook because Jeff said they are sending brisket home with him.
I have ants in my RV. These are stinging kind and not sugar ants! I just got stung while I was trying to unload my groceries! Now, I'm going to have to figure out how to get rid of these things!
Note:
After this post....
I called Jeff to see how they were doing at about 6 o'clock. He said they were unloading a truck-load of hay and could I bring them some water. There they all were all drenched in sweat and were only half way through the load....550 bails of hay! I stayed and helped. It took about 4.5 hours to unload and stack all that hay. Alison was amazing. She was working every bit as hard as the men. The truck drivers stood around and waited for us to finish. After we were done, the trucker's commented on what a tough little girl she was and how strong she was....they were amazed at Alison. Yeah, and that was on 4 hours of sleep and a whole day of leading horse rides. They had a very busy day yesterday. Alison was so excited because she $20 in tips for leading rides! Plus, Mrs. Stable paid both of the kids today for working today too. After we were done, she had food for us. Jeff is having cramps tonight in his legs. He did that the first day of the stair job too. Well, I'm ending up getting to bed late again tonight.
9:38 PM
such hard work, but it sounds like a great day!
