Jeff didn't go work on the stairs today because we saw a big rain would be coming around noon. He came up to the stables instead and hung out with us and the horses. Alison got her foot stepped on by a horse today. She's actually very proud of herself since she really wants to show that she's tough enough to have a horse. I guess she'll watch her feet closer now and maybe learn not to wear flip-flops! That girl is getting tough, I tell you! She hardly even flinches now when she gets hurt and this is the same child that used to cry over the smallest things when she was little! A few weeks ago she slipped and hit her shoulder on a rock at the river. I could tell it really hurt but she said she was fine and we went on! She had a big old scab for a week or more and now I believe its going to leave a scar.

Alison had a really great day because she got to ride her two favorite horses today.

This is Princess...and I'm talking about the horse, not Alison! LOL

This is Queenie. This is the first time Alison has ridden Queenie. She has been wanting to ride her for a long time but she is used a lot because she is such a big horse. She gets used for big riders and double-rides.

Jeff got some riding experience today. He tried riding Bandit around while a ride was out and Bandit was not having it!

Later, he rode Stormy...On this ride is when the rain came in. It was pouring down hard for most of the ride. He and the Ryan (the guide) had some electronics on them so they stopped so Jeff could take off on Stormy to a little shack to put their stuff in there so it wouldn't get wet. Jeff said Stormy didn't want to go off the trail. He got him to go and then he had to get off of her to put the stuff in the shack. Stormy did not want to let him back on. Jeff had to gain a little horse sense to get back on that horse and he wasn't about to let that horse get the best of him since everyone was waiting on him! These horses don't act the same off the trail that they do on the trail. The seem to know their job when they are working. You may need a little experience to ride them around wherever you want them to go. Oh, how Alison is waiting for the day that she can ride off on a horse and go wherever she wants!

This is Stormy....

Here is Michael on Easter....He has two speeds. Walk and run....He's very predictable at the end of rides. He heads straight for the hay and depending on who's riding him decides whether he gets there or not!

It's been such fun getting to know these great creatures! They all have such distinct and different personalities.

What next?
