Just plugging along here

Working everyday including today. Today we had a little incident at the stables. Jeff and Alison took a ride out and a big flock of birds flew out of some trees when they went by and it spooked the horses. The horses did a little dance and everyone came out okay except the little girl on the ride fell off her horse. Then, the dad got off his horse to check on his daughter and his horse started walking back to the barn. Jeff had to get off his horse to take care of the matter and his horse decided he wasn't sticking around if Queenie was going back. The little girl was okay. She was crying but she wanted to get back on. The horses had to be rounded back up and we were so impressed that the little girl got back on that horse. The rest of the ride went okay. I was glad to hear Alison fared okay because she was riding Princess and she is a young horse. She's only 3 years old. Young horses spook much more easily. She spooked and tried to run off but Alison was able to get her back under control. The other trail horses are much more seasoned so they didn't try to run off...they just danced a little bit in their fear and if a rider isn't prepared for anything then they can fall off, which is what happened. The horse the girl was on proved her worthiness of being a kid horse today though... Alison saw the whole thing and she said Red started to put her foot down on the little girl and then looked down and saw the girl was on the ground and quickly slid her foot to the side and then locked motionless. Alison said the rest of the ride that Red, the horse, was walking slow where he usually trots to get up hills. It was like he knew the girl was scared. He's such a jewel of a horse...but he is a horse! Well, these things happen when dealing with people and horses!

Last night we went went Ryan to feed some of their horses they have at another nearby Ranch. We saw Maria, which is the horse that was in the Brooks and Dunn video. These are retired horses which are living the remainder of their lives out in rich grazing areas. Those horses already look so much better than they did before they were brought there! But then we got to see, Spirit.....He was their Stallion for 10 years. I've heard about this horse but Whoa...is he a horse! He was the most regal and majestic horse I have ever seen. His main is wildly long and flowing and he's huge and massive. You could hear him thundering up as he ran up to be fed. I wanted to take a picture of him but I didn't have my camera. I will be taking my camera with me the next time I see that amazing creature!

Tomorrow is a Visitor's Center day for me. Alison wants to go the Feed Store and look at some boots she's been eyeing....I want to take her and hope she can get some boots while she is getting to ride and help so much. With all the tips she's been making we're going to make deal with her to help her buy them.

What next?
