Never a dull moment....

We're having so much fun working at the stables this week. It's fun having Jeff there and Alison is beginning to get accomplished enough of a rider to be more of a help than just an extra rider. This is only the tip of the iceberg for her though. She's hooked. This has been so exciting to learn about these horses. It's looking really good for Jeff...he's really been able to connect with the horses even more than the summer time help that has been there all summer. He's really enjoying it. It doesn't pay as well as working handy-man jobs but it sure is a lot more fun! It's really hard to explain but some people have an ability to really connect with the horses instead of just riding them. Mrs. Stable gave us a couple of books to read and I've started one called "The Soul of a Horse"...It's really a neat book that is helping me to understand some of the things I've been seeing in the horses. It follows along the premise of becoming part of the herd and having the horse "choose" you instead of making them do what you want out of fear.

Oh, and something neat is that the black horse that is in the country music video "My Maria" by Brooks & Dunn belongs to the stable owners we work for. She is too old now to use at the stables but they do still own her. The horse that Alison is in love with, Princess, is her baby. She is almost 3 years old.

Alison might be getting a baby goat. Remember the baby goat I posted pictures of climbing all over my RV when we babysat him a little while back? He was adopted by one of the park rangers here in the park. Well, they are tired of him already so Alison asked Mrs. Stable if she can keep him there at the stables with their goats. Of course, she said yes so now we just have to tell the ranger we want him and hope someone else doesn't get him. Better give him to us or he'll be "cabrito"! Alison really has her hopes up!

What next?
